How To Get Rid of Bed Bugs

November 20th 2011 06:51
When at home, we always want to get that very much needed rest. At night, a very good sleep is what we need in order to get back the energy that we lost during all day's work. However, how can we sleep properly when while in bed, we feel bed bugs biting us on the different parts of our body? Much worse is when the bitten part becomes itchy and swollen, and at times are painful too.

Bed bugs deprive us of a comfortable sleep. We can find them anywhere in the house, under the bed, on the tips and corners of our pillows and pillow cases, in the mattress ends, a nearby table or sofa or just anywhere in the house that they want to reside. Many of us may have already tried ways to eliminate them only to know that there are still many more of them in the house. Bed bugs multiply at a very fast rate. A single female bed bug lays about 300 eggs at a single time. How much more if we have hundreds of them in the house? They are nowhere to be seen but comes out only at night when they want to feed on human blood. We try to kill them when we see them they just move at a very fast pace.

So, how can we get rid of them in our homes? The first step is to maintain cleanliness. Make sure to wash your bedsheets, pillow cases, blankets, etc. at least once a week. You can soak them in hot water and dry them under the sun. In this way, bed bugs that reside in them will be eliminated through washing. See to it that you also leave the mattress and pillows under the sun to remove any unpleasant smell and to get rid of the bed bugs. This is one way to lessen their number or even eliminate them. General cleaning should be done weekly too. Make sure to clean also the areas under the bed, corners of the tables, chairs, sofa and other areas where you believe they would be hiding.

When I was a child, I can remember my father pour a little kerosenev to the areas where they reside. Petroleum makes them weak and poisoned and some in a short time die. Other people also use various insecticides like suspend SC, tempo SC, deltamethrin and BP100.

If you have tried all of the above ways but you are still unsuccessful, you can also ask the help of a pest control company. They have their proven and effective way to eliminate bed bugs. The cost though is a bit expensive but if that will help you get rid of these pests in your house, then it is always worth it.

You need to be patient in eliminating bed bugs as they can't be eliminated in just your first attempt. However, with your persistence, surely you will be successful.
