Insulating Our House for Winter

It's that time of year again, and this weekend, my family spent some time getting our house ready for winter. As we live in the midwest, it's important to do this early in the season because winter can come quickly and unexpectedly. Once winter arrives, it doesn't go away for many months, and we can even get snow as late as April!
So last weekend, we decided that we would insulate our house as much as possible in order to prepare for winter and to hopefully save on our heating bills this year. We went to a home improvement store and purchased storm doors for our front door, kitchen door, and basement door, and also got a few storm windows for the back windows in our upstairs office. We put all of these up and are excited to see how much of the cold they will keep out, as our house can sometimes get very drafty. After we had finished, we also called over my brother who works in the heating industry and had him take a look at our furnace system. He checked it out, made a few adjustments, and said we should be ready to go for the winter now.
When we were done with everything, we got some blankets and all gathered round to watch satellite television from www.direct.tv in our cozy, insulated house!
