Keeping Your Home Warm in Winter
December 15th 2010 11:04
Winter has arrived with such a vengeance this year that many people are struggling to keep warm with their usual domestic heating arrangements. With temperatures of -15 degrees in the far north of the UK, many standard central heating systems are simply not up to the job. Some houses have open fireplaces or woodburners, ideal for extra heating but only if the fuel to run them is readily available and easy to source. Braving such low temperatures to chop firewood is only for the very brave.
Today, there is an easy alternative way to add extra heating to the home, and that is by hiring additional heating, in the form of portable electric or bottled gas heaters. Most hire shops now offer this service at a very reasonable cost. Heaters can be hired for short periods, even for just a few days, or long term to get families and businesses through the worst of the weather.
The beauty of heater hire is that the heaters are portable. Many houses have ‘cold spots’ which normal heating cannot reach; these stay cold even if the main heating has been on for hours. A hired heater can be put to good work heating these areas.
A good example of a cold spot at this time of year is a conservatory. For many, the conservatory is a great addition to a home but is only really useable at certain times of year. In the height of summer, they can be too hot, and in the depths of winter, especially on days when the sun doesn’t put in an appearance, they can be far too cold. Hiring a heater for a conservatory means that it can be used on all but the very hottest days, making the conservatory a much more useful space.
For anyone who needs to ensure all-round warmth during winter, heater hire is the perfect way to complement existing heating systems and keep household running costs to a minimum.
