The Benefits of Electric Heaters

October 1st 2010 09:11
Our home is our sanctuary. We love spending quality time with our families in our homes. It is where our bond as a family is strengthened and where we can discuss everything that matters to everyone.

Heaters are essential parts of our homes. We need it to protect us from the cold weather and to help regulate our body temperature. When planning to install a heater for our homes, it is necessary to have a good HEATER HIRE professional to install it in our home as they are already skilled in installing this kind of heaters.

Heaters come in different kinds. Most heaters are either powered by electricity, gas or oil. Many people prefer electric heaters than the other kinds of heaters as they find those run by electricity to distribute heat equally all around the house and it requires little space. Most electric heaters are also inexpensive to purchase and is easier to maintain. Electricity is always available wherever we are. We don’t need a lot of preparations in order to keep our electric heater functioning unlike the other kinds of heaters, though the other kinds also have their own advantages.

Electric heaters work by converting the acquired electricity into heat with the help of an electric resistor that comes with the heater. The electric current that flows through the resistor then converts the electricity into heat energy which then helps regulate our home temperatures.

There are different kinds of electric heaters which may confuse you which kind of electric heater to purchase if you want to buy one. We have the column heaters, convection heaters, fan heaters, radiant heaters, reverse cycle air conditioners and off-peak storage heaters. In convection heaters, cold air is drawn using an electric heating element. Cooler air replaces the heated air that leaves the heater. In this case, a fan is used so that the heated air will be forced to leave the heater.

Fan heaters are good for smaller areas. These kinds of heaters can produce instant heat but the heat it produces is limited. Column heaters as the name imply uses electricity to heat the oil that is sealed inside its columns. The heat produced is then transferred to the casing of the heater as well as to the air that is present and circulating in the columns. These kinds of heaters are good to be used for a longer period and is best for bedroom use.

In order to conserve electricity, it is best to turn the heat to a moderate temperature. It is also necessary to turn the heater down when we leave the house in order to save on our electricity consumption as well as to avoid unnecessary risks.
