The first modern waterbed started in 1968 when its creator Charles Hall was still a student at San Francisco State University in california. In the 1970's, the popularity of waterbed as a comfortable sleep option has risen. However, the concept of waterbeds can be traced back about 200 years ago when it was used to help invalid patients. Later in the century, an English doctor, Dr. William Hooper patented the idea of waterbed as being a potential sleeping alternative. A famous writer, Mr. Robert Heinlein introduced the concept of waterbed into the modern age through his writings.

Waterbeds have many useful benefits. For a person's health, the use of waterbeds are very useful to ashtma and allergic sufferers because it does not have dust mites that may trigger an ashtma attack or allergic reaction. Waterbeds are also heated which gives some healing benefits to those suffering from arthritis. Sleeping on a waterbed will also lessen the pains of arthritic and aching joints that you may experience every morning. Waterbeds also give a person a better sleep because of the softness and the perfect posture that it provides giving you a mold just right to your body frame that reduces the tension on your back. Waterbeds are also known to cure or lessen insomia attacks because the heated water gives your body a relaxing stillness and comfort.

There are many kinds of waterbeds that are now in the market. Whether all benefits that are stated above are true or not, it is always for you to find out. The popularity of waterbeds is increasing every year and this only tells us that having them as a bed option is worth trying.
